The New York Times published a piece on Thanksgiving Day about icon-to-young-conservatives Ben Shapiro, and it was actually reasonably fair to Shapiro (although his #NeverTrump history may have been what actually made them sympathetic).

On Thursday, November 23 (aka “Thanksgiving Day”), the failing leftist rag The New York Times (aka “Carlos Slim’s Blog”) ran a lengthy profile on icon-to-young-conservatives Ben Shapiro, titled “Ben Shapiro, a Provocative ‘Gladiator,’ Battles to Win Young Conservatives.”
Perhaps surprisingly, the piece wasn’t a hatchet job.
For example, the piece, written by Sabrina Tavirnese, a national correspondent for the Times, included the following pretty laudatory passage:
“… the voice of the conservative millennial movement. He represents the tastes of an emerging political class: If Rush Limbaugh is someone your dad listens to on his car radio, Mr. Shapiro, 33, a graduate of Harvard Law School, is the cool kid’s philosopher, dissecting arguments with a lawyer’s skill and references to Aristotle. He exists in places that young people inhabit — podcasts, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. His podcast, The Ben Shapiro Show, is downloaded 10 million times every month. Seventy percent of his audience is under the age of 40. …”
And this one, which if not as laudatory, is fairly illustrative of Shapiro’s positions:
“… But he is not a moderate. His views are extremely conservative: Transgenderism is a mental illness, as per the encyclopedia of mental disorders before 2013. Yes, blacks have been historically discriminated against. No, institutions are not broadly discriminating against them today. The rich pay too much tax. Abortion should be illegal. Social Security ought to be privatized and Obamacare repealed. …”
The profile, from which we’ve shared enough sufficient text here for you to get the basic idea (GO READ IT YOURSELF VIA THIS LINK EVEN THOUGH, YES, IT GIVES TRAFFIC TO THE NEW YORK TIMES), is not particularly harsh on Shapiro at all, although one wonders if that may have something to do with Shapiro’s visibility as an outspoken #NeverTrumper, especially during last year’s campaign.
Along those lines, one cannot help noticing that the profile leaves out Shapiro’s ostentatious and visible wannabe-chivalrous resignation from Breitbart in support of Michelle Fields’s publicity-seeking claim of being assaulted by Corey Lewandowski, as well as Shapiro’s cutesy-and-just-soooooo-clever referring to not-yet-President Trump as a “turd tornado.”
